Student Council is hosting a change drive for My Sister's Place of Athens. Dimes against Domestic Violence started on March 19th and will last until April 6th. The past few years Student Council has been able to raise more than $1,200. However, the past week the drive has been going on hasn't been going too well. Our goal is to raise at least $1,600! If every student brings at least $2, our school will be able to reach the goal and donate $1,600! The top 2 winning Academic Coaching classes will be welcomed to a Breakfast party during AC. There will be donuts, bagels and more!
For those of you who don't know what My Sister's Place is, it is an agency dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence in Athens, Ohio. The organization was founded in 1977 and has been running in a confidential location ever since. Accepting women and children, My Sister's Place stands to fight against the unequal economic, social, and political status between men and women. MSP believes that "all persons have a right to a violence-free life."
For those of you who are in need of help, or know somebody who might be in trouble, My Sister's Place has a 24 hour hotline dedicated to talking to those who need advice or helping those who seek refuge.
