ACSD Facilities Master Planning Summer 2017 Board Meeting Schedule

In an effort to make progress towards the development of a long-term Facilities Master Plan for the Athens City School District, the Board of Education has approved the following schedule of special meetings throughout the summer:

Objectives:
 

  • Make determination as to whether AHS will be a renovation or new build in the Facilities Master Plan.
  • Make a determination as to whether the current AMS building will be utilized in the Facilities Master Plan.
  • Make a determination if 6th Grade will become a part of AMS in the Facilities Master Plan.
  • Make a determination as to the preferred model for PK-5 for the Facilities Master Plan.·      
  • Make a determination as to the specific building locations for the PK-5 portion of the Facilities Master Plan.
  • Finalize any decisions about renovation of or new construction of facilities for PK-5 portion of the Facilities Master Plan. 

 

Approved Meeting Schedule:
 

  • June 15, 2017  Special Board Meeting: Continue discussion of AHS from the May 25 Meeting.  Updates from architect and other work associated with components of the Facilities Master Plan.  Will include 30 minute session at end of meeting for informal two-way communication with Board Members and the Superintendent.

 

  • June 22, 2017  Special Board Meeting:  Continue discussion of AHS if necessary. Begin discussion of AMS.  Updates from architect and other work associated with components of the Facilities Master Plan. Will include 30 minute session at end of meeting for informal two-way communication with Board Members and the Superintendent.

 

  • June 29, 2017  Regular Board Meeting:  Finalize decision regarding AHS in the Facilities Master Plan.  Continue discussion of AMS.  Updates from architect and other work associated with components of the Facilities Master Plan.

 

  • July 13, 2017  Special Board Meeting:  Continue discussion of AMS if necessary.  Finalize decision(s) regarding AMS in the Facilities Master Plan if possible.  Updates from architect and other work associated with other components of the Facilities Master Plan.

 

  • July 27, 2017 Regular Board Meeting:  Continue discussion of AMS and finalize AMS decision(s) regarding AMS in the Facilities Master Plan.  Potential date to invite any groups who would like to present information to the Board (there has been one request to date).  Updates from architect and other work associated with components of the Facilities Master Plan.

 

  • August 3, 2017  Special Board Meeting: Discussion of ES models (single campus, grade level buildings, more than one PK-5 building).  Provide a forum for community discussion (i.e. breakout sessions) with Board Members and Administrator(s).

 

  • August 10, 2017  Special Board Meeting: Continue discussion of ES models (single campus, grade level buildings, more than one PK-5 building).  Provide a forum for community discussion (i.e. breakout sessions) with Board Members and Administrator(s).

 

  • August 17, 2017 Regular Board Meeting:  Continue discussion of ES models (single campus, grade level buildings, more than one PK-5 building).  Provide a forum for community discussion (i.e. breakout sessions) with Board Members and Administrator(s).

 

  • Schedule additional meetings as necessary in September to finalize decisions regarding the Elementary School portion of the Facilities Master Plan, as well as to begin discussions about any necessary Locally Funded Initiatives (improvements to bus garage, central office, auditorium(s), etc.)

 

  • The Board reserves the right to address items of routine business the Treasurer or Superintendent may bring before the Board as a portion of the Special Meetings identified in this document (i.e. approval of new hires, contracts, or project/purchase bid documents.)
