ACSD 6th-8th Grade Students Participate in Model United Nations

On December 8th, fourteen teams of ACSD 6th, 7th and 8th graders participated in the 2017 Southeast Ohio Model United Nations held at Baker Center on the Ohio University campus.  General Assembly was presided over by AHS student, Emmy Elliot, while Delanyo Mensah, Cirus Stowe and Mary Myers served as staff members in council sessions facilitated by Emily Pauwels and Julia Weber.  

 

 

 

Winners for Best Nation were the team of Canada:  Claire Ingram, Makena Trentacoste, and Lisa Liu.  Winning best cultural display included the team of Ethiopia-- represented by Charlie Phillips, Julia Schoen, Keaton Pearce, Matthew Kunhert, the team of Nigeria---represented by Sam Bibee, Luke Mulline, Abby Allwine and Demetra Zaros and the team of Afghanistan----represented by Reynolds Huard, Bell Grijalva and Kaela Ricket.

 

 

 

The Team of Ecuador:  Sam Gutekanst, Aiden Cox, Isabella Martin, Audrey Tompkins and Kalli Kostival won best resolution.  

 

 

 

Scholars competed with 430 delegates from surrounding counties.  Congratulations to these students who represented Athens City Schools with excellence.
