Welcome to 2nd grade!
I'm excited to introduce myself. I was born and raised in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. I am one of six children and embrace my Hispanic roots. I came to Athens in 1990 to attend Ohio University, where I earned a BSEd with a minor in mathematics in 1994, and a MA in education with majors in Counseling, Communications, and Cultural Studies in 2005. When I graduated in 1994, I moved to Pittsburgh, PA where I taught kindergarten for a year. As much as I loved it, I felt the call to return to Athens, where I've lived since. Upon my return, I was hired at East Elementary, where I taught sixth grade for three years and second grade for 19 years. As of the fall of 2019, I'll continue teaching second grade at Morrison-Gordon Elementary. In my spare time, I enjoy raising my nephew, Kingston, traveling, cooking, yoga, spending time with my furry daughter, Abby, being involved in social justice activities, and spending time with my family and friends. One of my passions is working with children who have dyslexia. I'm excited for the upcoming year!
