The Ceramics program at Athens High School is part of the Fine Arts Department. Beginning Ceramics is a semester course that focuses on hand-building techniques. Introductory pottery wheel skills are introduced to beginning students. Advanced Ceramics continues to foster sculpting and construction skills, but focuses on teaching skills on the potter's wheel and offer the serious student the chance to explore their own artistic goals using clay as their medium. The Advanced Ceramics course can be retaken to allow students to focus on building a portfolio. Students who have been a part of this program have received regional, state and national recognition for their artwork.
