AMS students had a very impressive showing in the District Science Fair held at Ohio University on March 14, 2015. 24 students participated in the fair, 7 of these students earned a place at the State Science Day in May.
Students who participated are: Amihan Brannan, Ava Barnett, Emilia Barr, Katherine Chen, Alexandra Collins, Audrey Crowl, Sam Dispenza, Ethan Holben, Allyriane Huq, Eli Kennedy, Gene Kim, Bozeman Koonce, Calder Kraince, Charlotte Lane, Abby Miller, Shaw Morgan, Shifra Narasimhan, Lyra Skinner, Nora Sullivan, Anru Tian, Daniel Thomas, Storm Walburn, Zoe Williams and Sylvie Wilson.
The 7 students who earned a Superior rating and who will continue to the State Science Fair are: Alexandra Collins, Audrey Crowl, Sam Dispenza, Ethan Holben, Gene Kim, Shifra Narasimhan and Sylvie Wilson.
Ethan Holben, Shifra Narasimhan and Sylvie Wilson were nominated to compete in the Broadcom MASTERS program sponsored by the Society for Science & the Public (nominees are in the top 10% of middle school participants in SSP affiliated science fairs nationwide).
Alexandra Collins and Audrey Crowl were awarded Second Place from the Ohio University Department of Psychology.
Sam Dispenza received the Ohio University Department of Physics award that includes $50.00, a textbook and a science related book of his choice. Sam also received the Air Force Award for the Outstanding Science and Engineering Fair Project.
In addition to the Broadcom MASTERS award, Ethan Holben received a Nutrition Award and $75.00.
In addition to the Broadcom MASTERS award, Shifra Narasimhan received First Place from the Department of Chemistry at Ohio University and $100.00.
In addition to the Broadcom MASTERS award, Sylvie Wilson received the Governor’s Thomas Edison Award for Excellence in Environmental Protection Research and the American Electric Power Foundation Watershed and Environmental Science
