Athens High School senior Richard Hwang has been awarded the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award recipient for Athens County this year.
Each year the Athens-Meigs ESC honors one student from a local school district in Athens and Meigs Counties to be the (OESCA) Franklin B. Walter Award Recipient. Award recipients must have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement as well as other significant school and community accomplishments.
The Franklin B. Walter (FBW) All-Scholastic Award was created in 1990 by the Ohio Educational Service Center Association (OESCA) to honor Franklin B. Walter past Superintendent of Public Instruction in Ohio and to recognize one top student scholar from each county in Ohio. Franklin B. Walter served as state superintendent from March 1977 until August 1991.
