Jeremy Biddinger and Colin Widdoes from RVC architects will be hosting several meetings in the coming weeks at locations throughout the District to provide opportunities for faculty, staff, parents, and community members to provide input into the planning for our new PK-3 and Grades 4-6 school buildings.  The schedule for those meetings is as follows:

Additionally, Tony Schorr from Schorr Architects and Mike Dingeldein from Community Design Alliance will be at the Regular Board Meeting on Thursday, February 21st to provide an update to the Board of Education on the work of our Planning Committees and will also provide an opportunity for those present at the meeting to share their thoughts and input.




The PK-3 and Grades 4-6 Planning Committees have had two meetings to date and several members of the Committees will be visiting two new schools in Lancaster, Ohio next week.  The discussions at this time are focused on the programming necessary at each building and the types of spaces needed to provide that programming.




Thank you to the many members of our community who have been providing feedback and input.  We have many months worth of meetings and planning ahead and want to make sure we hear from as many of our community members as possible.  If you cannot attend one of these meetings, please feel free to send to me an email with your ideas and I will forward them to our Planning Committee Members.  My email is tgibbs@athenscsd.org.

The 3d Annual Bobcat Bulldog Indoor field day is almost here! It will be this Saturday, February 23, from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Walter Field House on the campus of Ohio University! This FREE Athens City School District community event is brought to you by the ACSD Healthy Schools Committee and Ohio University Athletics! This super fun celebration of a healthy living will include:

 

  • Multiple stations with Ohio University student athletes leading fun and playful sporting activities!
  • 10 minute group fitness classes for all!
  • Health focused activities and table information brought to you by Ohio University Nutrition students, Ohio University Social Work students, and other community partners such as Live Healthy Appalachia!
  • Free healthy snacks for all kinds of nutritional needs brought to you by some of your favorite local restaurants and Ohio University's Combined Master of Science and Dietetic Internship program through the Atrium Cafe!
  • Half price ticket vouchers for all ACSD students to attend the Ohio University Men's basketball game on March 8!
  • A group photo with Rufus Bobcat and the Athens Bulldog at 1:30 p.m. - bring your cameras!
  • Surprise give-away at the end of the event for those who visit all of the stations!
  • The warm and wonderful feeling that comes from being healthy and active with your family and community!!

 

 

All parents and caregivers must sign a release of liability upon entering the event. Children may not be dropped off, parents and caregivers must be present.
