Our community has really come through and has some amazing opportunities for students this summer. I am trying to keep my door updated with opportunities and anyone is welcome to reach out to me if they are looking for opportunities or have questions. Additionally I have flyers for most programs if you want them. I wanted to send out all opportunities I am aware of for high school students to date so you have resources to promote to students you work with.
GRIT SUMMER PROGRAMS
Cost: Free
Location: Hocking & Shawnee have residential programs, other commuter programs at Washington County Career Center, Rio Grande, Belmont College, and Ashtabula Tech - see website for breakdown by location.
Includes (Shawnee & Hocking programs): 4-week HVAC (NATE Ready to Work Certification) prepares you to start in the industry. 1-week Floor-installer program - very in-demand job. While the average pay is $20/hour starting out because of the demand in some areas that number is doubled. 4-week BASIC EMT training - includes clinicals, 3-week Certified Phlebotomy Training - includes clinicals, 3-week Manufacturing Skill Standards Council Certificate, 3-week Ethical Hacking Essentials - beginner friendly cybersecurity course, 3-week Social Media for business and Microsoft Office or Entrepreneurship prepares you for a career in business 6-hours of college credit available, 3-week Paraprofessional training gets you ready to pass the paraprofessional exam as well as give you certifications needed to work in child care and educational settings.
