Communication FAQ

What phone numbers will you be using?

  • We use your phone number(s) as they are listed in Infinite Campus for all SMS/Text (and voice) messages.  You can update your phone number(s) if necessary in the Annual Update for your student(s) through Infinite Campus Online Registration.  You can also contact your student's school at any time to update a phone number.
  • Check your email address as it is listed on your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account to make sure there are no typos in it. If you need assistance with your Infinite Campus Portal account, please email campus@athenscsd.org for assistance with resetting your password or setting up your account.

SMS/Text Messages

  • Will emergency and/or delay/cancellation messages be text only?
    • Yes.  Emergency messages and delay/cancellation messages will be text only and will typically include a voice message as well.
  • Why is there a link in my text message?
    • Our current messaging system allows 140 characters per text message. If a message contains more characters than that, it creates a separate link. We try to encourage users to stay within that character limit and link to a document or website for the full information so it is easier to access for the user.
  • Can I only receive certain SMS/Text messages?
    • No.  We do not currently have the ability to "categorize" messages by emergency vs. regular communication.  You can turn off texting all together - see Edit Subscription Preferences in SendIt (available at https://www.athenscsd.org/parents).

Why are messages sent via BOTH email and SMS/text messages?

  • Some parents/guardians don't have or use email and some don't use SMS/Text messages so that is why both methods are used. You can edit your SendIt subscription preferences if you’d like one or the other instead of both.
  • If you prefer only receive email or text messages, you can adjust your SendIt Subscription Preferences

How do I limit messages I’m receiving?

  • Messages are sent by building and/or grade level (or by courses at the teacher level).
  • You can adjust settings in your email account to automatically file messages with a certain subject line (i.e. Bulldog Athletics Weekly) for weekly/monthly publications you do not want in your inbox.

Why is the mobile app not available?

  • We have had technical issues with setting up our new mobile app with our new website. We are currently working on that issue and hopefully we will have that running again soon.

Why am I not receiving email messages?

  • We do not have anything in place that is blocking email addresses, so if messages are not going through it is not on our end unless there is a typo in your email address in Infinite Campus.
  • Check your email address as it is listed on your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account to make sure there are no typos in it.
    • If you need a password reset for your account or you need an account set up, please email campus@athenscsd.org for assistance.
  • We recommend that you add noreply@schoolpointe.com to your contacts in your email account (this is the email address that all messages come from whether they are from the teacher, building or district level.
  • We suggest that you use or add a personal email account that will be likely to receive messages.
